Blackfield Associates are supporting a leading British manufacturer to recruit for a Laboratory Assistant to join the organisation on a part-time, permanent basis (Monday – Wednesday, 8 hour days).
Responsibilities
Reporting to the Product Development Manager, the key responsibilities are as follows:
- Maintain and grow insect cultures, including cockroaches, flies, and stored product insects.
- Feed, water, and clean insect enclosures while ensuring strict hygiene standards.
- Assist in setting up and conducting insecticide and rodenticide trials.
- Record and manage trial data accurately.
- Ensure cleanliness throughout the lab and follow safety protocols.
- Maintain stock levels for insect cultures and lab supplies.
Requirements
To be considered for the role candidates must have strong attention to detail, the ability to work independently and multi-task and be committed to high standards of lab hygiene and safety. A degree in a biological field of study would be highly desirable and prior laboratory experience would be preferable, but an awareness of laboratory work would be considered.
