MICROBIOLOGIST (12-month FTC) – HERTFORDSHIRE – Competitive Salary + Shift Allowance
An exciting clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company are currently recruiting for a Microbiologist to join their QC team based in the Hertfordshire area initially on a 12-month FTC basis for maternity cover. The role will involve working the following shift pattern: Wednesday – Saturday, 8am – 5:45pm, 35 hours per week.
As a Microbiologist you will provide essential support to the Microbiology team that allows the release of manufactured products. Your role will include microbial enumeration, microscopy & identification, Sterility testing, Bioburden testing, Endotoxin testing, Mycoplasma testing. You will be the key participant in the delivery of Microbiological analysis. Key responsibilities include:
* Supporting the critical operations by ensuring the laboratory and general equipment is maintained to GMP standards
* Performing routing testing, including: sterility, endotoxin, bioburden, mycoplasma, growth promotion, fertility testing, microbial enumeration, microscopy & microbial identification and electronic system maintenance (data entry)
* Equipment, method, and process qualification, validation, and / or verification to comply with GMP standards
* Supporting quality-related activities, such as investigations, deviations, CAPAs and change controls.
To be considered for the role candidates must have a BSc/MSc in a Life Sciences / Microbiology-related field, along with experience working in a microbiology laboratory. Knowledge and understanding of aseptic processing in sterile manufacturing is essential, along with microbiological analysis, including method and process validation within a pharma/biotech/ATMP GMP laboratory. Detailed understanding of aseptic technique and practices within a Microbiology laboratory is required.
Knowledge of microbiological sampling requirements within ATMP / Vector manufacture, with understanding of CMC and regulatory compliance and equipment qualification experience would be highly desirable.
